Fly Fishing Guides, Guiding and Instruction

Pennsylvania fly fishing guiding and guides in general have saturated the web. What do you need to do some guiding...nothing except perhaps some equipment. I've been giving fly fishing instruction in Pennsylvania for over 30 years. We now have licensing in some states and this has become a joke too.

Most Fly Anglers Need Instruction Not Guiding

Here's the deal I will give you: instruction on how to fly fish everything from spring creeks to freestone streams. I can teach you methods such as nymph fishing, streamer fishing or anything you want. I can improve your casting and can teach you how to read water, pick the right flies, and aquatic entomology. I can teach you how to do all these things and more but I can't promise you that you will catch fish on that day. You have to do that! I am a professional fly fisherman. I am not a miracle worker and that's how you can tell I'm different from just about anyone else out there when it comes to guiding and instruction. I will teach you stuff that will last you a lifetime if you pay attention. Fly fishing expertise is not instantaneous like our society would like. I fish the hardest steams in the world for the most selective and wariest fish. What you learn here can be used anywhere in the fly fishing world.

In most instances you will need instruction not guiding. Guiding often is like the someone telling you, "throw the fly over there." Unfortunately, they don't explain why you should do it that way. I've had numerous fly anglers tell me in recent years that the guides won't explain anything to them. There is a reason for this because many guides now work out of fly fishing conglomerates and they need you too keep coming back to make their rates pay.

I can guide, instruct or give you lessons on both private and public waters. That's up to you. Not all sites are bad but unfortunately, the horror stories are getting worse every year.
